Combipres is a primary maintenance therapy for conditions involving high eye pressure:
Open-Angle Glaucoma: Lowering pressure to prevent damage to the optic nerve.
Ocular Hypertension: Managing high pressure in the eye even if nerve damage hasn't occurred yet.
Dual Fluid Control: Timolol reduces the production of aqueous humor (eye fluid), while Brimonidine both reduces production and increases outflow.
Rapid Relief: The hypotensive effect typically reaches its peak within 2 hours of administration.
Respiratory & Heart Alert: Because it contains Timolol (a beta-blocker), this medication can be absorbed into the bloodstream. Do not use if you have bronchial asthma, severe COPD, or serious heart conditions like bradycardia (slow heart rate) or heart failure. Drowsiness: Brimonidine can cause fatigue or drowsiness. Use caution when driving or operating machinery. Contact Lenses: The preservative in the drops can be absorbed by soft contact lenses. Remove lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before reinserting them. Surgical Warning: Tell your doctor or dentist you are using these drops before any surgery, as beta-blockers can affect your body's response to anesthesia.
For maximum efficacy, the drops must be used consistently every day.
Standard Dosage:
1 drop in the affected eye(s) twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart.
Application Technique:
Wash your hands thoroughly.
Tilt your head back and pull down the lower eyelid to create a small pocket.
Instill one drop. Do not touch the dropper tip to your eye, fingers, or any surface to prevent contamination.
Punctal Occlusion: Immediately after instilling the drop, close your eye and press firmly on the inner corner (near the nose) for 1 to 2 minutes. This prevents the medicine from draining into your tear duct and entering your bloodstream.
If using other eye drops, wait at least 5 to 10 minutes between different medications.
The most common side effects are local: eye redness, stinging, burning, or a feeling of "something in the eye." Some patients may experience dry mouth, headache, or temporary blurred vision. If you experience a slow or irregular heartbeat, dizziness, or difficulty breathing, stop use and contact your doctor immediately.
Store in a cool, dry place below 30°C, protected from light. Discard the bottle 30 days after first opening, even if there is liquid remaining, to avoid the risk of bacterial infection. Keep out of reach of children.
Q: Can I use this if I have "Dry Eyes"?
A: Both active ingredients can worsen dry eye symptoms. Our pharmacist may recommend supplemental "Artificial Tears" (lubricating drops), but ensure you wait 10 minutes between using Combipres and your lubricant.
Q: What if I miss a dose?
A: Apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose.

Q: Why do my eyes look red after using it?
A: Mild redness (hyperemia) is a common side effect of Brimonidine. However, if the redness is accompanied by severe itching or discharge, it may be an allergic reaction.
